Brig A S Kanwar is a graduate in Civil Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh and was commissioned into the Army, Corps of Engineers in Jun 1995.
The Offr is a post graduate in Defence and Strategic Studies from the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and has undertaken the prestigious Higher Defence Management Course from the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad.
He has served on various Command & Staff appointments that include Brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade in Operation Parakram, Col Q of an Infantry Division & AQMG of the National Defence Academy, Khadkwasla.
The Offr has commanded an Engineer Regiment along the Line of Control in J&K, an Independent Engineer Field Company and an Independent Engineer Squadron in the desert sector. He has also been in command of a Road Construction Company in Bhutan.
Before assuming his appt of Brig Comb Engrs Eastern Command, Brig Kanwar was chief Engineer Project Anurank where he was responsible for roads in Arunachal Pradesh. The project completed black topping of Roads to Huri & Tasking and connected the last post of Maza on the LAC during his tenure. He was also instrumental in construction of road using steel slag which won accolades from various institutions, dignitaries & even from the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
Brig A S Kanwar is currently Head of Faculty of Combat Engineering at College of Military Engineering, Pune.
