Tesfazghi Tewelde, known as Tess, brings over 23 years of leadership in humanitarian and commercial mine action operations across Africa and the Middle East. Based in Geneva, he offers extensive expertise in strategic planning and stakeholder engagement, working closely with donors, UN agencies, national authorities, and the private sector.
Tess is recognized for building global partnerships, and successfully establishing and expanding IMAS-compliant programs. He has held several senior positions, including Regional Director and Director of Programmes and Operations.
He is currently the CEO of Horizon.
IIFOMAS (India International Forum on Mine Action and Safety) is a global initiative under the Horizon Safer World Foundation, dedicated to addressing the menace of landmines and explosive remnants of war (ERW). As India’s premier think tank for mine action, IIFOMAS unites experts, governments, and international organizations to strategize, innovate, and implement sustainable solutions for mine clearance, community safety, and humanitarian aid. Our mission is to drive global collaboration and advocacy for a world free from the threats of landmines, enhancing peace and safety across war-affected regions.
